japan went to war because:

1) the u.s. put an oil embargo against them
2) the u.s. supported the chinese when they were at war against them
3) western countries limited japanese immigration
4) western countries put unfair tarrif against a more competitive japan
5) westerners were racist jerks
6) they colonized the world and they didn't want japan to do the same
7) 50% of the japanese would have died of hunger because of the Great Depression if they did nothing
8) they saw that the Natives got raped into extinction because they didn't assert itself militarily and had inferior military technology
9) they suspected americans would do a false flag to attack japan someday
10) they knew that the americans were arrogant pigs who thought the "inferior" japanese couldn't pull off an attack like pearl harbor
